Our History

  • We are a small family run business
  • We established ourselves at The Little Barn in rural Staffordshire in 2002
  • Speedwellstar was launched onto the net in 2005
  • On average better than 99% of your orders arrive next day
  • We relocated to The Hay Barn in Derbyshire – Overseal in March 2020
  • Our new and improved website launched in June 2024

Meet the Team

Roger Kendall – Business Owner

After many years working as a Senior Manager in local government and a commercial surveyor/buyer in the construction industry Roger wanted to try something completely different. The reality is the same spreadsheets and processes are still there but now he only has himself to blame when there is a problem 🙂

Customer satisfaction is always his priority and ensuring products are priced competitively to ensure that buyers will return to Speedwellstar knowing they are purchasing from a family UK based business. In his spare time he moans about his many ailments, in particular his back and inability to put his socks on the day after mountain biking or running.

Laura Kendall – Business Owner

Laura has worked in the business since 2011 and has built up a broad knowledge of the business from the ground up. She says the best thing about owning and running Speedwellstar has to be being able to walk to work, and the broad variety of things to do each day.

At home Laura and Roger also have two great daughters, a lovely Labrador called Dexter (who joins us at work each day), and Marvin the cat who thinks he’s a dog.

  • Orders are collected each weekday at about 1pm Monday-Friday, and almost always, you will have your purchase in your hands the next working day

We recycle all our office waste. As for packaging, we keep everything that comes in and reuse it to re-package everything going out. No waste. No problem
